If there is one unexpected item in my closet that I absolutely adore, it's my faux leather leggings from Aritzia. Not only are the comfortable and casual, but the price was fairly agreeable to what I was looking for: expensive looking leather pants without a price tag over $200. I paid $115 for mine in Fall 2011 and they have held up really well. They are made of polyurethane (LOL my thesis was on artworks made of polyurethane...). I usually reserve them for weekends, because they aren't exactly "office appropriate".
My favorite items to pair with faux leather pants, or leggings are:
My favorite oversized cardigan and a belted blouse
A girly white blouse - a classic cut with feminine details
Add some edge with a graphic tee
Have fun with colorblocking and cozy, oversized sweaters
When in doubt, just add stripes and your iconic trench
Mix the textures of leather, with an open-weave, crocheted material
For anyone looking to buy some faux or real leather pants,
here are some great options:
The Trendy Saver: Forever 21 $30
The Classic Faux: Aritzia $135
The Commitment Purchase: J. Crew $996
Do you have faux leather pants or leggings?
How do you style them? Please share!

I love all your leather leggings outfits! I've been thinking about getting a pair because they really do look cute but I can't decided if they're right for my body type. Where did you get yours?
ReplyDeleteI bought mine at Aritzia in fall 2011, but they seem to keep popping back each year and the only difference is that they are polyester now, so I'm not sure how the material feels or lasts. HTH :)
DeleteI love all the ways you styled them -- I really need to get a pair myself! xo

Love,love your How to´s series!
ReplyDeleteToday i received the Jcrew micro tweed jacket in navy and i thought it looks like you would love it
.Have you seen it?
I will review it in the next days!
Thanks Ina! I have seen it! And I do like that the navy is now on sale, I don't really need another tweed blazer, but that one is lovely. I can't wait to see your review, I know you'll get a lot of wear out of it :D

You rock those pants and they look terrific on you! I've tried leather pants and they just don't work for me, but I used to have a black leather Donna Karan pencil skirt that I thrifted from Goodwill for $15 and I wore it all the time until it ripped on a stray nail.
ReplyDeleteOh this is SO making me want a pair of faux leather leggings! Love all the ways you styled them, especially with the oversized cardi :)

I've always wondered if leggings like that were comfortable. Good to know that they are. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you did this...I have been wanting to wear my faux leather leggings with boots but couldn't figure if it looked cute. Now I see it does...and the trick is the sock sticking out! Love it! Thank you! :)

So cuteeee on you! Edgy but still classy. Especially love them with the graphic tee + comfy cardigan. Now wish I had snagged a pair when I was debating it months ago!

Love, love every look here! I've been living in both leather and faux leather leggings this winter b/c they're just so versatile! I probably wear my cheap faux ones more often though b/c I'm scared to stretch out the real ones - kind of sad but true!
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting some faux leather leggings forever but I have hesitated because I feel like they might be hard to style. This post is so inspiring! I really want to buy some now. You look amazing in all of these outfits! I especially love the colorblocking look.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I would love to feature this post in our "things we love" post tomorrow. We will be sure to link back to your blog!
Hey! Glad you really enjoyed this! I hope you do get a pair now, they are so versatile :) I appreciate you including me in your post tomorrow - can't wait to check it out <3 xoxo
